Building Regulations UK

A Buildings Regulations application is a statutory process required for all construction work within the UK. The regulations are divided into various categories:

Part A: Structural Safety
Part B: Fire Safety
Part C: Resistance to Contaminants and Moisture
Part D: Toxic Substances
Part E: Resistance to Sound
Part F: Ventilation
Part G: Sanitation, Hot Water Safety and Water Efficiency
Part H: Drainage and Waste Disposal
Part J: Heat Producing Appliances
Part K: Protection from Falling
Part L: Conservation of Fuel and Power
Part M: Access to and Use of Buildings
Part N: Glazing Safety
Part P: Electrical Safety

The Building Regulations UK are different from the planning process and will involve a detailed submission of drawings and information  to confirm that your proposed project meets necessary statutory requirements.

In essence, there are two main ways of applying for building regulations:

  • Full plans application
  • Building notice

We can advise you on the appointment of a Local Government Inspector or a Private Building Inspections based on your requirements. In many cases, certainly if you are proposing larger projects requiring government finance, it may be possible that further statutory regulatory codes will be necessary.
